QuickTake: Lower-Income Adults Report Being in Worse Health

 

  • Nearly one-quarter of adults with incomes at or below 138 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL) report being in fair or poor health.
  • These low-income adults are nearly four times as likely to report being in fair or poor health as adults with incomes at or above 400 percent of FPL.
  • Adults in the Northeast report being more healthy than adults in other regions.
